#PublishingReinvented 97 - The Bid Pulsing Tactic + Our $2,000 free to enter competition.
Does it have a pulse?
Pulsing bids can get you into profit faster.
One of the things we’ve noticed, as a result of testing, is that we can drop bids on Amazon to 25c or even 21c and, where a book has previously sold well with that ad, we can reduce the total ad spend for a week or two while keeping the sales level near the previous good level.
This means that the monthly ad spend for the author drops significantly, but the sales don’t drop as much. This may be due to the A9 Amazon algorithm placing the ad when it believes it will make a sale, because it previously did, even though the bid is much lower.
Our goal is always to make a monthly profit for each author we work with. If we cut spending for a week or even two during the month, yet still keep a good level of sales and royalties, that is a result for us.
We don’t do this for all ads, just the ones selling already, where a bid drop may not kill the sales, just reduce them while improving the ACOS.
And that is worth a lot.
A profit is the difference between stopping and keeping going with book ads.
So the suggestion this week is to pulse your bids on Amazon, cut the best ones in half for a week, then raise them again and see what the overall result is at the end of the month.
