#PublishingReinvented 96 - The Truth About Advertising Books.
The Unfairness Of Life:
I know we all hope everyone gets a great outcome.
But the truth is, they don’t.
Some books we promote sell like hot cakes….and there are many of these, such as this one below- this chart shows sales in the past few years as we have been managing her ads:
Yes it’s $98,072 sales for $29.919 in ad spend.
Or this one in the UK:
£28,332 in sales for £3,601 in ad spend.
And then there is this:
Sales of $2153 for an ad spend of $5797.
The reason that author keeps advertising is because of KENP page reads and sales of other books in that series. But he doesn’t make a clear profit like the other authors do.
So unfair right. But that’s publishing.
Not all books sell at the same rate.
Advertising works when there is demand for the genre and for the exact type of book being advertised.
We get authors who assume that because book A sold $98,072 with Amazon ads it must mean their book will sell the same.
What do you think?
Should all writers get the same outcome no matter how many years they’ve been writing or how unique their book is?
Otherwise it’s unfair, right?
++ Our Coupon Code is expiring soon: bgs40 can still be used to get $40 off any package at the checkout to test if your book is among the ones that sell. See the promotion packages page here for details.
