#PublishingReinvented 91 - Get Help To Find An Agent, A Big Advance & A Big Publisher!
Is it time to broaden your reach?
I have a new series coming, which really needs to be in lots of bookstores. This year I’m going to give some literary agents a shot at it to see how much they will pay.
You see, publishers are experiencing a boom:
Book sales are up, profits are up, big publishers will be buying this year.
Would you say no to a juicy advance?
I had three novels published by HarperCollins, and I got a good advance, and some other publishers around the world published that series too, but that was almost ten years ago.
I also had an agent, but we parted when I realized he was not interested in my next series. So I’m going to try again with historical fiction.
You can follow my successes and failures in this series of emails.
I have book one written in the series and I’m getting beta reader feedback right now. I will then make changes before sending it out to agents, probably in late March.
And while I wait for their response I will be writing book two….and if the 15 most likely agents to buy it turn it down, I will self publish the series rapid-release style late in the year.
In preparation I am repurposing one Twitter account and a little used 2nd Instagram account and I’ve started another TikTok account. Agents and publishers do like to see you are able to do this stuff as an author.
If you would also like to join me on this journey in 2022 please start with a beta read or two for your book available here.
After that we can provide:
+ Advice on finding the right agents most likely to buy in your genre.
+ A review and edit of your submission email to use the most likely formula in 2022 to find an agent.
Please start with a Beta Read and when you are ready to submit, email me at: laurence@bgsadmin.com and tell me what else you would like help with.
Going on a journey with someone else really is a lot more fun than going alone.
….and I promise only to reveal your name when you get a deal, and agree to your name being released.
And, I recommend we should only accept advances above $20,000. Any well written and presented self published book should be able to make that over it’s life anyway.
Am I crazy? Time will tell!
