#PublishingReinvented 62 -Snatching Victory The Hard Way + Preparing For The Rush
Victory The Hard Way
As a writer, you will be aware that the judgement of others impacts us. If an editor at a publishing house finds your book and offers you a book deal your life may change.
Mine did.
If hundreds of readers place sparkling five star reviews your sales can rocket.
If three or four place scathing negative reviews sales can plummet.
We are buffeted by the wind, subject to the whims of others.
So how can we protect ourselves?
Working at our craft. Stepping up. Taking influences from wherever we can and climbing higher with each book.
Ignoring the occasional negative review and slip and learning what we can from it no matter how deep the cut.
Seeing our victories, the good reviews, the consistent sales, the readers who read a whole series, and holding onto them fast. A victory is a victory and from each we can rise higher.
Just don’t expect things to be easy. Ever.
Now is the Time to Prepare for the October-December rush.
You will know that most book sales in the English speaking world occur between October and November. To prepare for that, I am checking all my books and changing:
Subtitles on ebooks
First in a series ebook pricing, making it lower to get people started on the series
Descriptions on Amazon, bringing them up to date
Categories on Amazon, changing them
Assessing covers.
Attention to detail for how your books look on Amazon is a key step to making sure you maximize book sales in the coming rush. Now is the time to get these things right so you can enjoy your victories later in the year.
