Writing To Market Anyone?
Here’s a free plot idea tool.
I use a scene by scene approach, where I use a physical notebook to write ideas for the next scene. I get ideas from other books - I don’t copy the plot, but incidents inspire me, or TV, similarly, or movies or non fiction books about the era I’m working in.
Wondering how many here write to market, that means creating a plot and setting and characters highly likely to appeal to a specific niche as similarly structured books do well?
Is this the road to AI writing books and robotic writing as we follow a strict trope driven formula or the road to riches for non-selling writers?

I don't write to market but I have taken one idea from the marketplace to heart. I have created a storyline and eight characters that I intend to run with for some books, maybe eight to ten. The idea is, the nostalgia for the characters and the stories build up over time. Like Lovejoy, or Auf Wiederstein Pet. I'm a big 1980s fan because those were my busiest and most challenging years. Also, i loved the cafes, trucks and pubs from that era.
I believe AI is already writing some simple sport stories for some websites, for example. Hopefully, it will never reach a level of competence where it can write a serious article, novel or poetry or songs of any merit. Unfortunately, they once said a computer would never beat a human at chess. It wasn't long before that notion crashed and burnt.
