#PublishingReinvented 33 - The Lust for January Changes.
January is a time of change.
I can feel the planet turning, the years slipping into each other in January, as time takes as it gives, like ice shifting under our feet.
I have a lust for change in January, a desire for the new, the spring, the setting aside of things.
Holidays are a memory as the ice-grip of winter is about to make itself felt here in Ireland and still the sap rises. The desire for change won’t go.
So what shall it be? The new broom? Those plans for the year ahead? Or perhaps a change in your writing?
Here are my suggestions for that:
Start a new book. Plan it in secret in a new notebook. Gift yourself one.
Change the ending of your current book. Make it resonate more clearly with the beginning and give it a twist too.
Read something you’ve always loved again, but with a writer’s eye for how the author achieved the objectives that you value, whether that be character development, plot twists or lyrical freshness.
2021 is a year of change.
Let’s bring that to our writing.
