Avatar Marketing Update - Fiction
I am on Facebook ad test 6 for the above book, targeting the UK only, as it’s a historical novel based in England.
Facebook ads have one clear advantage, you can test the way you pitch a book to potential readers and see results instantly in your royalties.
How does this relate to ideal reader avatars, the concept of your most important reader segment? Understanding your avatar’s fantasies and how your book might appeal to them (see T Taylor’s Universal Fantasy book for more on that) will enable you to pitch your book as something that will satisfy their fantasies.
Do you really understand your ideal reader and what type of book and fantasy appeals to them?
This is also about discovering why some books, perhaps not so well written as others, sell many times more copies. You know the ones.
This is about the themes in your book, be they the rocky road to true love or the search for a serial killer or something more profound. Why do readers gobble up popular books, and if you were writing one, how would you pitch such a book, not just in your Facebook ad but also in your Amazon text description and through your cover too?
Food for thought, I hope.
