#PublishingReinvented 201 - Testing Video Ads + Failing Is A Test + Get The Placebo Effect Working For You
We are testing video ads on Amazon. We have had mixed results depending on the genre, but we keep going. We need to keep testing new ways to reach readers.
Click here to see one video ad in action. That ad, running for the last two weeks, is costing 33c per click.
Failure Is A Test.
Setbacks only signify failure if you don't emerge stronger from them.
Facing challenges, initially failing to meet them, and then practicing to overcome the same obstacles builds profound resilience. With resilience, setbacks become opportunities to reassess the situation and then push forward.
Here's my challenge to you: the next time you feel you've failed, reframe your perspective and reassess your strategy. Did it help you move forward or uncover a new path?
Can you go around the obstacle?
Can you ignore it?
The Placebo Effect For Selling Books
I read about a new book describing how to build success. The key lesson was to build a following of people willing to claim you or your work are wonderful. What others say about you and your work is crucial. Reader reviews show that in action.
It won’t matter if you are objectively the same as others. If you have enough important people believing your book is a work of genius, you will become one.
This is the core of the placebo effect as applied to books. Read my post on this subject here.
