#PublishingReinvented 184 Some AI Images for Ads & Social Media + A WhatsApp Channel Test & other recent tests
The above image, after multiple prompts in ChatGPT, shows one take on a scene from my Roman era historical fiction. A druidess lures an emperor to his death.
Nothing like a bit of drama in an opening chapter! To read some reviews of this book click here.
Ok, I could have commissioned a graphic artist to make the above at a cost of hundreds of dollars, but it’s not likely that would happen when the only use for the image is in a video on TikTok or a pic here.
What about this concept art for my new historical fiction about the Norman conquest of England:
Or this for a novel we are running Facebook ads for:
or this for another Facebook ads campaign:
Image prompting is becoming a key skill in book promotion. We would be unlikely to commission our cover designers to make these images for ads, mainly because of the cost and time it would take. Our cover designers are still busy, by the way.
Our use of stock images is declining too and we might spend hours searching to get anything close to some of the above if we went with paid stock. Stock image sites must be suffering.
Do you think all this is a good or a bad thing?
A WhatsApp Channel test
As you know we test lots of things here at BookGosocial to see if we can find new ways to reach readers.
Recent tests include going Premium+ on one of our Twitter accounts, setting up a Twitter community here giving free access to our writers’ festival videos, running Reddit ads for books and now we have created a Channel on WhatsApp.
If you are on WhatsApp and interested in Historical Fiction sign up for it here. I am told it will not reveal your phone number to anyone.
Let me know what you think. Go to Updates in WhatsApp to see the Channels. There are lots.
