#PublishingReinvented 18 - How To Get Ahead As A Writer During Hard Times
Hard Work + Persistence + NetWorking +
That’s the formula.
Not much of a secret is it.
And always there’s that inner knowledge that “hard” means just that.
This New York Times article describes how sled dogs thrive in the face of real dangers and radically shifting variables, just like the world we live in now.
The dangers we all face are real. But we can learn from sled dogs.
One of the most important lessons I took from the article is about trust. The dogs trust, and that bond makes a successful journey through the wilderness possible.
In these times we also need to trust our writing groups, friends, mentors and supporters. We need to forgive the smalls lapses and focus on the big picture, how we can help each other finish this trek through the harsh Covid terrain.
We influence each other every day by the way we contribute, the effort we put in and our willigness to network.
Our luck, as writers, will be, as it always has been, based upon our hard work, indomitable spirit and willingness to cooperate.
