#PublishingReinvented 17 - The Trad Boom Shows Where The Dinosaurs Are Heading + Rise Above the Noise 1
Trad Dinosaurs Climb Ever Higher
This New York Times article shows clearly why trad publishing is both doing well and not an option for most writers unless you are a celebrity, politician or already a massive selling author.
Thankfully that leaves a big part of the market for us indies. Indies are the writers who experiment, the writers who will reshape genres and create new ones out of ebook magic dust.
The trad publishing dinosaurs are obsessed with numbers focusing on the top of the food chain, the mega sellers, the books that the data proves will sell and feed their need for vast profits.
As indies we are a million strong for every trad dinosaur. And as we grow they will retreat to the high plateau where they can still dominate. That will leave a vast plain for us.
