#PublishingReinvented 11 - The Strength to Endure + Free Video library
Fortitude
I’ve been reading about the death of James Silberman, the leading New York editor who died recently - more here.
What struck first me was a sense of an age closing. Editors and agents were gods in those days. A well-crafted book from an unknown author could sell millions of copies. It happened regularly.
What also struck me about the obituary was the fact that Mr. Silberman was still editing at 86, after suffering a stroke.
I was reminded of an interview with a Japanese artist who said he didn’t create good work until his eighties.
It is a good field to be in when you can still function in your eighties.
This virus will pass.
We will party again.
We will enjoy our friends, the cinema, writers’ festivals, together.
